U3A Wynyard started in early 2015, following a public meeting in July 2014 to gauge local community interest. It is one of thirteen such groups in Tasmania (this number is increasing rapidly), over 300 in Australia and many thousands around the world. We have now completed our fifth term and have assembled a varied and exciting programme of courses for term 2, 2017, which starts in September; we believe there should be something to interest everyone. So far we have offered courses in art, bird identification, creative writing, sustainable living, French, German and Italian, meditation and relaxation, cryptic crosswords, drama and theatre, various aspects of science, history of WWI, bird watching, gin appreciation and cider making and dozens more topics than there is space to mention here (click here for a list of all the courses we offered in our first five terms).
We occasionally hold Open Forums to which non-members are welcome and provide an opportunity for people to find out more about us, as well as enjoying a stimulating session on a variety of subjects.
We use several venues around Wynyard and can be contacted by email, the postal service, this website or through our office at 45 Jackson Street, Wynyard on most Fridays from 10:00 – 12:00; click here to discover full details.
