Biological Farming in Latin America

When: Thursday, November 14 – 10:00 to noon (1 session)

Where: Wynyard Showground Hall

Presenter: Susan Hartley

In 2013 I toured Latin America with Mashumus (“more humus” in Spanish) looking at how 17 farms of all sorts and sizes, from peasant to big commercial enterprises, reinvigorated their soil using biological ferment techniques. These ferments were made using common, local ingredients and were inexpensive. The return on the farmer’s time and the subsequent impact on the health of their farms was astounding. I will show a video illustrating the various enterprises and techniques, followed by a short talk with Q&A afterwards. If people are interested, we can form a group and do a practice session on my farm in Oldina.
