This course covers the lunar origin and features; the causes of eclipses and tides; a naval disaster that led to the moon’s role in navigation; how Einstein became a household name; the Great Moon Hoax; the reason Galileo’s crater is located in the perilous Ocean of Storms; the moon’s influence on the American Civil War; why astronomers are never drunk during an eclipse; lunar exploration and Australia’s role; the Australian connection to the only person whose remains are on the moon; could the moon be used to monitor climate change; lunar resources; the moon as an ideal physics lab.
